Testing the Salomon XA Pro Trail Runner in Scotland

when adventuring outdoors, it’s important to consider weather conditions.  hope for the best, prepare for the worst. years ago as i was preparing for a 3 week journey trekking through Ireland and Scotland, i knew that a new pair of Goretex hikers were in order.  Ireland and Scotland exemplify the word “green”, because they also exemplify the word “rain”.  and i was going to be ready for it, with my new pair of Salomon XA Pro Trail Runners.

When Life Gives you Lemons… Wake up at 4am and Meet at the Trail Head

every year i spend time in Colorado for work.  often times my work trips are spent in cities, but on this particular occasion, i knew i had meetings in Estes Park, Colorado.  the thought had me squirming with enthusiasm.  it was a work trip, and a busy one at that, but when life gives you lemons, you wake up at 4am, drive 45 minutes to meet Mr J and his pup at the trailhead, and squeeze in a 10 mile hike before the work day begins.

lululemon’s Free to Be Bra

these days, lululemon is a household name. they have increased their market share within the fashionable fitness apparel industry by leaps and bounds in the past decade.  (surely my addiction to their product has been a big part of that.) it is with great enthusiasm that i present their products to fitness enthusiasts far and wide.  this week i am reviewing their “free to be bra.”

How China Influenced my Circuit Training

many minutes of my life have been spent devising plans on how i can better grasp an understanding of this big wide world that surrounds us. there are 196 countries in the world, each with its own subset of cultures, people, lifestyles, and lessons, waiting to capture our attention and influence our lives.

every new country and culture i’ve experienced has forced me to become more open-minded. i take away new ideas on how i can better my life with each new experience.  one way to define each of those lifestyles, is through the methods of activity in each country. and china was no exception to that rule.

My Dog is a Yogi

the theme of my week is yoga…as you can see from my previous posts here, and here. To top my yoga week off, I thought I would share a lighter side of the yoga practice, in the form of yoga dogs.

as i have been working my way back into levels of comfort as a yogi, i have been practicing various poses at home. each morning generally begins with a yoga stretching session in the living room. apparently my pups have been eager to participate as well; and now, at week end, they both join me each morning for some yoga.

Shakti Activewear Side String Shorts Review

this week, i have yoga on the mind. i have been working my way back into yoga classes in an attempt to loosen up my  muscles and find more balance in my work out routine.  i took a 3 month hiatus from yoga that i can definitely feel in every class, every pose, and every second (i try not to watch) tick off the clock.

my aim is to be strong, push through the suffering, and fake it until i make it.  thankfully i can at least now look the part, as i recently upgraded from my volleyball spandex into a pair of official yoga shorts. Shakti Activewear Yoga Shorts. these bright blue beauties were calling my name off of the rack and have accompanied me to three classes thus far.

This is Going to Hurt, and it’s Going to be Worth it

they say that the most difficult part of any journey, is taking the first steps.  that is indisputably the case when it comes to getting in shape physically.  when we feel good about ourselves and our bodies, it is easy to work out.  however, when we are out of shape and uncomfortable in our own skin, it’s difficult to face up to the discomfort of those first few workouts.  it is going to hurt.  but the important thing to remember is that the pain is temporary, and it is going to be worth it.
