Music makes us move. Moving makes us healthy. Music makes us healthy.
This week’s motivational song is…
the quest for the perfect pair of runners can be a tedious one. every foot is different. every runner is every different. and all shoes are not created equal. i have tried many different shoes throughout my years. most recently it has been the Brooks Ghost 8 that I picked up in magnetic blue.
many minutes of my life have been spent devising plans on how i can better grasp an understanding of this big wide world that surrounds us. there are 196 countries in the world, each with its own subset of cultures, people, lifestyles, and lessons, waiting to capture our attention and influence our lives.
every new country and culture i’ve experienced has forced me to become more open-minded. i take away new ideas on how i can better my life with each new experience. one way to define each of those lifestyles, is through the methods of activity in each country. and china was no exception to that rule.
having kids makes staying fit harder, it is inevitable. but having kids doesn’t have to be the end all of a mom’s fitness life. before continuing, i will admit that while i plan on having kids eventually, i do not have any today. so no, i do not have a personal experience with combining motherhood with fitnesshood. but yes, […]
this week brings me back to washington d.c. who would have guessed that a small town, mountain lovin’, western girl, would fall so hopelessly in love with this city. but I did, and i do. in addition to the city itself, i discovered two other loves of my life while living in the nation’s capitol: running and joe.
when i run, i run loops. i’ve never been a big fan of the up and back route as I like to change up my scenery. some may think I am crazy to loop in this instance because of the beach front views along the strand that are indisputably better; but balance is a key in life, and when i run, i run loops.
the strand is a boardwalk that runs from redondo beach all the way up to manhattan beach and beyond. the water is so close you can feel it. it is a beautiful gift to locals and visitors alike. but as beautiful as it is, the strand gets obnoxiously busy in peak hours, and even more so in peak season’s peak hours. so in true vanessa style, i get a head start on everyone in thefirst2hours of my days, and i run in peace.
home is where the pups live.
when you combine my travel schedule, with the schedule of my fiancé Joe, it occasionally means that i am greeted by two loving guys when i come home from a work trip, instead of three. meet the three guys in my life: fisher (the fur ball), gunner (the jumper), and joe (the hunky mountain man).
before being plagued with bad knees i was a much more serious runner. thankfully, i managed to knock the “run a full marathon” goal off of my bucket list earlier in life, because now it would be an impossibility. i still run often, but these days it is much less about the split times, and much more […]
